Built between 1826 and 1828, Government House was originally the residence of New Brunswick’s Governors and Lieutenant-Governors. Constructed from locally quarried sandstone, it sits on eleven acres along the St. John River in Fredericton. A cultural landmark, it reopened to the public in 1999, showcasing restored rooms such as the drawing room, dining room, library, music room, conservatories, and the original Lieutenant-Governor’s office. The second floor features exhibit rooms and the current Lieutenant-Governor’s office.
This historic venue will host the president’s private banquet dinner for fellow council members.
The Beaverbrook Art Gallery, along with its exceptional art collection, was gifted to the people of New Brunswick by Lord Beaverbrook (Sir Max Aitken) at its opening on September 16, 1959. Many regard this magnificent collection of masterworks and the purpose-built gallery as one of his most generous gifts to his home province. As a cornerstone of the city’s cultural landscape, the gallery will host the CSO-HNS Welcoming Reception on Saturday, May 31st, an event open to all attendees.
The Market has roots that pre-date the city’s founding. In 1785, residents petitioned the governor to establish a townsite, a necessary step for creating a market. The Market building itself was constructed in 1951 and has been operating every Saturday without fail ever since. With over 200 stalls, it offers a vibrant selection of meats, vegetables, baked goods, maple products, and ethnic foods by day, alongside a treasure trove of art, crafts, jewelry, and flowers.
As night falls, the venue undergoes a unique transformation into a lively kitchen-party atmosphere, complete with music that adds to the Eastern charm. This special evening experience is open to all attendees on Sunday, June 1st.
